Veteran girls basketball coach Karlyn Stephens has resigned from East Columbus High School in order to accept a job at Southeastern Community College. Stephens will coach the softball team at SECC. She'll also be a physical education instructor. Monday was a light night for high school hoops, but we still managed to find action on the hardwood. Full story...

Monday on WWAY we checked out the Charlotte Bobcats. Last season the Bobcats only won seven games. This season they've already reached that plateau. On Monday former Hoggard football standout Jonathan Cooper was named first team All-ACC. We even have Cooper's reaction to all of his recent accolades. On Tuesday the UNCW men's basketball trailed by 50 points against the Richmond Spiders. UNCW ended up losing by 43 points. It's the third largest loss margin for the Seahawks in school history.... On Thursday night our sports coverage featured the NBA Draft. The Charlotte Bobcats decided to keep the overall #2 pick. In a bit of a surprise the Bobcats selected Kentucky forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. On Thursday Wilmington swimmer Cari Blalock completed her week at the US Olympic Trials. On Monday we found out former UNCW men's basketball coach Jerry Wainwright is headed a bit closer to home. Wainwright has decided to leave Fresno State. Congratulations are in order for the UNCW surf team. They finished in third place at the national collegiate surfing championship.
