Currently, DILIGENCE is moored at the Coast Guard Yard in Curtis Bay, Maryland; however, she has reached significant milestones in preparing for sea. The cutter recently had successful "light offs": a basic test of both main diesel engines, the two ship service generators and emergency generator.

After a little more than seven weeks at home, the Coast Guard Cutter Diligence is leaving port Friday.
They will conduct homeland security operations, search and rescue, and will also work to keep immigrants and narcotics from coming into the country.

They're usually busy protecting the waterways in our area. Today they traded in their sea legs for tool belts. Members of the Coast Guard's Marine Safety Unit Wilmington helped build a new home for Habitat for Humanity on Prices Lane in Wilmington.
