videoOn Thursday night Laney's Christian Caveness captured the state championship in the boys 100 butterfly at the 4-A state title swim meet in Cary. Check out our coverage from the meet. The UNCW women's basketball lost on the road against James Madison. It was the 8th consecutive loss for UNCW.

Duke commemorates 50th anniversary of integration

Duke University is embarking upon a nine-month commemoration of the school's 50th anniversary of integration with a reception that includes the three surviving members of Duke's first five black students.

videoOn Wednesday on WWAY we showcased the Mideastern Conference Swim Championships at the Seahawk Natatorium on the UNCW campus. Hoggard claimed the girls title for the 14th year in a row. New Hanover lost on the road in boys basketball. UNCW lost in Atlanta against Georgia State. #1 Duke lost by 17 points, while the Tar Heels held off Georgia Tech.

videoOn Tuesday night we had high school hoops from Shallotte, Boiling Spring Lakes and Wilmington. The boys basketball team at South Columbus is on a roll. Pharoah McKever led the Stallions to a 22 point victory on Tuesday with an 18 point effort. The UNCW women's basketball team snapped an eight game losing streak. Plus more!

videoThursday's action from the Leon Brogden Holiday Basketball Tournament is in the books. All four of the girls teams from Wilmington won. Only two of the four boys teams from Wilmington will be able to move onto the winner's bracket on Friday. We have first round highlights, postgame reaction, scores and pairings for Friday. Plus scores from other regional holiday tournaments.

videoThursday was a fairly full night of high school basketball around our neck of the woods. We had a nail-biter in Whiteville between the Wolfpack and the West Brunswick Trojans. Plus we had action from Boiling Spring Lakes and Wilmington. This included New Hanover's most impressive win this season. Plus more!

videoOn Monday the East Carolina Pirates held their final Greenville practice before heading to New Orleans for their upcoming bowl game. On Monday WWAY had high school hoops from Pender High. It was a backyard rivalry game between the Patriots and the Topsail Pirates. Duke is now #1 in the country in men's basketball.
