A man loading a moving truck in Brunswick County was hit and killed today by a car. Highway Patrol says the 63-year-old, who's name has not been released, was loading the truck on Green Hill Road near Duffer Blvd.

Highway Patrol says Jessica Nealey died yesterday from injuries suffered in a car crash Monday night. Troopers say Nealey's car ran into a tree off of State Road 1141 east of Tabor City.

Then she says while she was on the phone with a friend, one of the Leland officers got in her car without her permission and moved it into a parking lot.

Pine Valley Elementary School and Holly Tree Elementary School were under lockdown this afternoon as law enforcement officers searched for a suspect involved in a car chase earlier this afternoon. The lockdowns were lifted in time for normal dismissal for students.

A Raleigh attorney who accused two state troopers of intimidating him and his wife was in Wake County Court Thursday to face a simple assault charge he received in December. Hoyt Tessener was accused of punching a bar manager in the face after a misunderstanding over a bar tab.
