Victims of impaired drivers honored in lights

video The Tree of Life was bright this year with about 2,000 Christmas lights strung on it’s branches. Each light represents someone who has died because of a traffic accident in North Carolina in 2010. The white lights are strung for the 1,327 people who died in accidents and the 437 red lights represent the lives lost to impaired drivers.

Halloween checkpoint leads to dozens of charges

Some Halloween partiers got a spook when they got caught in a DWI checkpoint last night at 15th and Market Streets in Wilmington. The sting resulted in more than 60 charges, according to Barb Lynch with the group Justice in Motion.

video Picked as Officer of the Year then demoted after showing up to work, allegedly reeking of alcohol. He's a former marine and a former sergeant with the UNCW Police Department, but Charles Lindsey was recently demoted to officer, after showing up for work under the influence of alcohol.
