Progress Energy crews have restored service to more than 260,000 customers who lost power in the weekend’s winter storm across the Carolinas, and as of 11:30 a.m. today, more than 500 line and tree workers and support teams are working to restore power to about 6,000 customers currently without electricity.

Kids in the Cape Fear are getting an early Christmas present. Employees at Progress Energy's Brunswick Nuclear Plant are donating more than 1,700 bikes to elementary school children in Brunswick and New Hanover Counties.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is investigating Brunswick Nuclear Plant in Southport. Progress Energy, which oversees the plant, confirmed the investigation is looking into the professional conduct of some of the plant's security officers.
