1st quarter housing stats indicate local market and economy are improving

The local housing market continues to show signs that our economy is improving; new home construction rose 7.2% in March, an upswing in housing inventory for sale, pending sales are rising, job market is improving and 30 year fixed mortgage rates remain in the upper range of 4.75%.

Wilmington area home sales – those in New Hanover, Pender and northern Brunswick counties, totaled 4,540 in 2010 compared to 4,361 in 2009 - reports the Triangle Business Journal.

Pilot program to help some professionals buy homes

video State legislators discussed a new Workforce Housing pilot program. The program will help low-income employees buy a home. Police officers, firefighters, teachers and nurses are some professions eligible for the pilot program.

Home Sellers Beware

It can be one of the most stressful ordeals someone can go through; selling a home. But imagine if someone moved into your house before you agreed to the sale. Dan and Karyn Bowman are still getting settled in to their new home in Leland. As for their old home in Wilmington, the family who bought it should be settled in after jumping the gun and moving into the home before they were allowed to.
