"Good Morning Carolina!" Ashley first greeted Cape Fear viewers from the anchor desk in February 2012, but after spending a year at WWAY, she decided to take some time off to be with her young children. When the chance to return to what she considers her dream job came up, she jumped at the opportunity and couldn't be happier to share her mornings with you once again.
Ashley graduated from Ohio University's Scripps School of Journalism, majoring in Broadcast Journalism with a specialization in Political Science. Though she's comfortable in front of the camera now, Ashley began her career behind the scenes as an Assignment Editor in her hometown of Toledo, Ohio. While working closely with reporters and photographers to coordinate coverage at WTVG 13ABC Action News, she gained great respect for each position in the newsroom. She quickly worked her way on air, covering everything from severe snow storms to anti-military protests that first sparked local debates, then led to her first appearance on national cable television.
In 2008, Ashley left the corner of Northwest Ohio to tackle the role of Military Correspondent and Weekend Anchor for ABC/FOX in Savannah, Georgia. During her time there, Ashley gave viewers an up close look at Air Force One as she covered President Obama's visit, took them to the sky with behind-the-scenes military flight training and shared tips from golf greats like Tom Watson. It was also during this time in Savannah that Ashley earned a Certificate of Appreciation from the Army for her military coverage, as well as recognition from local schools for her dedication to mentoring and training journalism interns.
While she's proud of her interviews with former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, athlete Herschall Walker, and ABC's 'Modern Family' star Sofia Vergara among other recognizable names, Ashley truly believes the best stories to tell are those of the people in our community, making a difference on the local level.
You can find Ashley greeting Wilmington and surrounding areas with a smile weekdays from 6-7am. She values your trust and and loves hearing from you. So if you run into her, don't hesitate to say "Hi," and feel free to share your story ideas with her by emailing email@example.com.
