I am very happy here in Wilmington. It is a great city with everything I love: lots of water, great beaches and nice, friendly people. It is my kind of town, and I am right at home here
I have been a meteorologist for about 20 years, and I have professional seals from the AMS and NWA. My emphasis is on severe and tropical weather systems. Hurricanes are the giants of the weather world, and I am always
in awe of their immense size and power.
That is why I came to the southeast coast: to continue my weather career, but then I got an opportunity I could not pass up. For about a year in 2010 I got a chance to do some news anchoring off and on, and just a little at a time, but I really liked it. Something new and a chance to use some old skills while developing other areas. With my weather contract ending, I spoke to management, and we worked out an agreement where I became a news anchor here. Something new at this point in my life has been great, and I am enjoying my new job.
Prior to TV I began my career in radio, where I was a DJ, program director, play-by-play sportscaster and even the general manager of a small station. I also worked in video production and training. I have also done hundreds of voice-overs and some on-camera commercials and videos.
I am the proud father of three sons. They are grown and also interested in the sciences. I love it when they come to visit. I also have one grandson.
My favorite pastime is sailing. It's a great way to relax and enjoy the wind and the water. My sailboat is here, and I get out whenever possible, whether it's a short sail or on the water all day.
I have seen a lot of our area, and I am always happy to get out to explore new places or revisit favorites.
