Meet your lawmakers this weekend

READ MORE:

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- How often do you get the chance to speak one-on-one with the people who represent you locally, in Raleigh and even in Washington? You can this weekend.

The League of Women Voters of the Lower Cape Fear is holdings its fifth annual Face to Face with Your Legislators. WWAY is proud to be a sponsor of the event.

It's your chance to sit down and tell New Hanover, Pender and Brunswick County lawmakers how you feel about issues important to you.

If there's something you want to address, there are things you can do to prepare for your meeting.

"What you do is you come in, we will be there to welcome you, tell you where your representative is once you tell us what county you're from, and then you go up and speak with your representative," said Carole Ellis from the the League of Women Voters. "And we suggest that if you have a particular topic that you want to talk about that you have your bullet points, so to speak, about what you want to say to your representative."

There is a time limit to make sure everyone gets the chance to speak with whom them want.

If you want to go, it's Sunday at the New Hanover County Government Center. It starts at 3 p.m. and ends at 5 p.m.

NC Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin sleeping on the job

Please tell our local Legislators that we have had it with the rates increses for our wind and hail insurance. The NC Joint Underwriting Association is a monopoly that's bleeding us dry. Also please take a moment to sign my petition to help reduce these outragous premiums. It will be submitted to Mr. Goodwin next year and if the rates have not been reduced by then, he will feel the repercussions in the 2012 election. Thanks
