BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- For the past couple of days, we've been following the story of a family killed in a car accident involving a school bus. Today, we spoke with their extended family.

Josh and Brandy Williams and their sons Kendall and Gavin died in the crash. In their first TV interview Josh's family talked about the close knit group.

"My brother and my sister-in-law, which is my sister, were very family-oriented," Josh's sister Kirby Williams said. "They loved their sons with a passion. They'd do anything for them."

Two families mourn the loss of four loved ones, while celebrating the life they shared.

"Kendall, the oldest boy, loved sports. He was very good at soccer and basketball. He also played football and baseball," Kirby said. "Gavin was in kindergarten, and he was a really shy little boy, but very handsome. Josh, he's the type of man that would do anything for anybody. He could pretty much fix anything, work on anything. And Brandy, she was a very good mother and good sister."

Kirby said Josh and Brandy had been together as long as she could remember, and their family loved being together.

"Josh and Brandy were together for 12 years," she said. "They helped raise me. They liked to take trips together and just be together."

Kirby said her family is grateful to the community for all their love and support.

"I would like to thank the whole community for all the support that they have shown for the Williams family and the Risen family. We appreciate it very much," Kirby said. "This is something that's really tragic, and it's hard to lose one person and much less four, and losing the boys is really hard."

The viewing for the family is scheduled for Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Shallotte. The funeral will also be at the church at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Flowers or donations can be sent to Brunswick Funeral Home in Shallotte.

Williams family news coverage

I wanted to thank this station and this young reporter for the story about the loss that our family has had.In our grief, we could not think about anything but the sudden tragic loss of our four family members. After we recieved calls about the negative information posted by another news agency, we were all so scared to talk about Josh,Brandy,Kendell and little Gavie to anyone from a news agency. We would not want to have our grief turned into "good copy". It took courage for my daughter to stand there and talk about the loss of Josh and his family with this reporter who respected our needs. Thank you for allowing us time let everyone know that this family loved each other so much even though the attention of the public has moved on.The reporting and story brought some comfort to Brandy's family and to myself and my family. We lost so much in that moment and Josh and Brandy would want us to close ranks around them and protect the children.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss. You all in in our thoughts and prayers.
