WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Wilmington City Council is trying to figure out its budget.

At a budget work session today, Mayor Bill Saffo said he thinks there will be much debate over changes to the system. He said although the decision to adjust the budget may not be easy, it is necessary.

He said the city is considering creative solutions to handle the changes.

"Technology, innovation, can we do things more effectively and effectively with less people? Those are the things our city manager has been taking a look at and the entire city staff over the last year now," Saffo said. "Anything that we can do to provide services at a much reduced cost to our citizens, we're gonna try to identify it and move forward on it."

Saffo said the budget process is sure to be a challenge, but he thinks the city will ultimately be satisfied with the decisions made.
