Tall ship visits Port City

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- The Coast Guard Cutter Diligence has some company along the riverfront this weekend. The tall ship Lynx arrived in Wilmington this afternoon.

America's privateer is paying a visit to the Port City during the Azalea Festival. Folks across the Cape Fear are invited to come tour the ship and learn more about how it works.

Capt. Bob Nelson says there is a lot you could learn.

"The Lynx is a is a representation of the original Lynx, which fought in the War of 1812," he said. "It's a privateer, which is an interesting story in itself. If you come visit us while we're in port, we can explain the difference between pirates and privateers. Here's a hint: we're the good guys."

You can tour the Lynx all weekend long from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
