Pender shelter dogs spared

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) -- It looks like a happy ending for the dogs at the Pender County Animal Shelter.

We told you yesterday that all the dogs in the shelter needed a home by today, or they would be euthanized. Shelter workers say of the 33 dogs they had, 31 have been fostered or adopted. No word yet on what will happen to the other two.

Shelter manager Darlene Clewis says all of the outdoor kennels are now demolished, and the shelter is moving forward with construction. The staff hopes to have everything up and running again in about three to four months.
