Rivenbark in critical condition; No charges filed while he's in hospital

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Wilmington City Councilman Charlie Rivenbark's son Travis is in critical condition Monday after being hit by a car while on his bicycle Saturday night.

Police say Travis was hit on Eastwood Road heading to Wrightsville Beach.

He suffered severe injuries including a broken neck.

The accident is still under investigation, and no charges have been filed.

A police spokeswoman says in many cases, charges aren't filed while a person is still in the hospital.
