Sampson County meth suspects sentenced

WILMINGTON, NC (AP) -- Five men have been sentenced in federal court on charges of running a methamphetamine trafficking ring in Sampson County.

US Attorney Thomas Walker said Wednesday the men pleaded guilty to conspiring to manufacture, distribute, dispense and possess methamphetamine.

Twenty-eight-year-old Brandon Greenwood of Angier was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Fifty-year-old John T. Tyer of Dunn was sentenced to nearly 19 years. Thirty-eight-year-old Christopher M. Connelly of Dunn was sentenced to about 15 years in prison. Thirty-year-old Michael S. Norris of Lillington was sentenced to about 12 years in prison. Twenty-six-year-old Jacob S. Tyer of Erwin was sentenced to 11 years in prison.

Greenwood and the Tyers also pleaded guilty to weapons charges.

The men were arrested last year after police received a tip about drug activities at Connelly's residence.
