KURE BEACH, NC (WWAY) -- A Kure Beach commissioner arrested on drug charges has resigned. Barry Nelder's resignation is effective today.
Mayor Dean Lambeth says Nelder left his letter of resignation on the town clerk's desk over the weekend. Lambeth said Nelder did not give a reason for his resignation, but did say he appreciated the time he served the community.
Nelder has not returned our calls for comment.

Cops write you up even when you don't break the law there
the guy blew below North Carolina's legal statute of .08 and was written anyway by the cop for DWI and then months later the cop took it to the news to try to discredit the Judge and also the guy's dad, who was Mayor of Southport, during the final weeks of the election. If these two restless unproductive Kure Beach employees go, all the trouble down there will cease. A lot good employees have left that town because of them.

Mr. Holden was driving on three tires, admits to driving while under the influence of prescription drugs, and also stated that he had been drinking. Are you kidding? Remember Kathy, it is better to keep silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt. Trust me you have removed all doubt.

Yeah, completely sounds like the cops were targeting this guy. I mean really, I see the cops turning their backs on vehicles driving on 3 tires every day. They just had to pull this one over. So unfair.

I'd also suggest that you reasearch the jurisdictional limits of a sworn law enforcement officer in the State of North Carolina.
