THIS INFORMATION FROM A NEWS RELEASE SENT TO THE WWAY NEWSCHANNEL 3 NEWSROOM

WILMINGTON, NC (CFPUA) -- The CFPUA Operations Department responded to a sewer spill which occurred Saturday from a manhole located at the Airport Pump Station #62. The loss of commercial power and failure of an in-place generator caused the spill.

Approximately 9,900 gallons was discharged, most of which flowed into the Smith Creek watershed. CFPUA crews stopped the spill by restarting the standby generator and pumping and hauling wastewater. Commercial power has since been restored and the pump station has returned to normal operation. Repairs are being made to the permanent generator.

This incident has been reported to the NC Division of Water Quality.

Oh no

I guess their going to raise or bills for a new generator, over paid water and I bet underpaid workers

Uh

They were going to do that anyway. They don't need to use a hurricane as an excuse.
