Annexation petitions well past mark needed at deadline

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- It looks like two communities will not face annexation after all.

Yesterday was the deadline for Monkey Junction residents and property owners near Southport to return annexation denial petitions. It's unofficial right now, but both communities returned more than 75 percent of the petitions. Only 60 percent were needed to block annexation.

Southport's petitions will be certified December 7.

Monkey Junction's will be certified December 9.

"That other station" just announced that the city IS going to court in Wake County on Thursday to stop the certification process.

They have been "judge shopping" and undoubtedly found some left wing tyrant who will try to undo what the legislature accomplished.

Why did we even bother to fight a revolution if we eventually replaced George III with people like Obama and Saffo?

Personal freedom? Liberty? The rule of law? Just empty words to these people....

Saffo already talking about possible court action.Talk about going against the will of the people. I guess it does not matter if 70% say no

If Saffo cared about the will of the people, there wouldn't be a convention center in Wilmington. I wonder whose pocket he's in on this issue.
