NEW YORK (AP) -- Katie Couric will be an early riser all next week.

ABC announced today that the former "Today" show anchor will be guest-hosting "Good Morning America," the rival wake-up show at Couric's current workplace.

Beginning Monday, Couric will sub for the vacationing Robin Roberts. She will appear for the week alongside Roberts's regular co-host, George Stephanopoulos.

Couric was co-host of NBC's "Today" for 15 years before leaving the network in 2006. Before jumping to ABC last year, she was at CBS, where she anchored the "Evening News."

"Today" has long been the ratings leader, but recently "Good Morning America" has been nipping at its heels.

"Good Morning America" airs on WWAY Monday through Friday from 7 to 9 a.m. following "Good Morning Carolina" with Ashley Jacobs and Tim Buckley.

......did I say yawn?

please please , do not show her going through another colonoscopy live or recorded on tv. lol

the most interesting thing she has to offer these days.....

... to get up in the morning knowing full well that when you get to the station, some management hack somewhere will push you to purvey some crap like this as a valid news story instead of identifying it as the blatant commercial it really is. My condolences

ChefnSurf - no one said this is news. It's a PROMO, letting GMA viewers - and perhaps some old Katie Couric fans - know that she'll be anchoring next week - that's all.

It took all of two minutes for us to post this on the web - and a manager was the one that posted it.

And as a matter of fact, the people in our newsroom enjoy working here. We have fun. We laugh all day. And I think most, if not all, actually enjoy getting out of bed and coming to work on Front Street.

Perhaps you should get out there and surf some more now that the weather's nice - hopefully it will relax you some.
