VOTE 2012: Early voting underway in NC

LELAND, NC (WWAY) -- Early voting is underway in North Carolina. Now through May 5 you can vote early at different One-Stop Voting locations around the area.

Folks at the polls today say it was a little slow but they know it will pick up as the official election gets closer. They say the people who come out and vote early usually are pretty passionate about their candidates of choice and their political party.

"I think it's a very important election," early voter Sal Mirando said. "There's a big difference between a Republican and a Democrat, and if you're a Republican, hopefully we'll improve this country, because right now we're going in the wrong direction."

Mirando says regardless of who you support, it's important to make your way to the polls and voice your opinion. He says if you don't do it now, you have no right to complain about decisions made later.
