Swappers trade homemade items

READ MORE: Swappers trade homemade items

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- It's a phenomenon that's taking the country by storm and now it's in the Port City. If you have any home-grown, homemade, or home-brewed items laying around the house you could turn them into something useful at the Port City swap meet.

The concept is simple. Those with a surplus, bring their goods and sell or trade them in a system that is half open market, half silent auction.

No matter what you're looking for, you will most likely find it at the swap meet.

"It brings the community together obviously and lots of people who couldn't afford to eat really healthy organically grown foods now your able too" said Brent Dober. "You can exchange something that you have made in your family for a long time and you can exchange that for some organically grown vegetables that would normally cost you a lot of money at the market."

If you want to check out the swap meet, it's held on the last sunday of every month at the corner of 4th and Castle Street in downtown.
