READ MORE:

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- It's that time of year to get your flu shot. The experts say this year, the flu is already peaking.

Experts say the flu seems to be more contagious than in the past; so much that kids 12 and under cannot visit New Hanover Regional Medical Center and its other facilities.

Doctors say they're seeing whole families getting sick when one person gets the flu.

Doctors urge that people get the vaccination to stay protected.

Flu

I was in the hospital last week and was told by many, many nurses and doctors that the flu they are seeing is a different strain and even if you had the shot you can get this strain. Now, think back this happens every year you get the shot and then a differnet strain hits the area. So why are we getting the shots????

I can safely say that in my

I can safely say that in my adult life I have never had a flu shot and also have never had the flu. I think eating well, getting excercise and overall practicing a healthy lifestyle is a much better preventative measure than any mercury and aluminum laced shot could be. What do you think the build up of these chemicals is doing to your body over time? I would rather have the flu one time than suffer long term effects such as Alzheimer's from a flu shot.

I have never had a flu shot.

I have never had a flu shot. I have had more than one doctor say it wasn't necessary. I have had the flu once in the last twenty years and I obviously survived and the one time I had it, neither my husband, nor my children contracted it. When my doctor deems it a necessity, then I will consider it.

Flu Vaccine

The flu vaccine does not make you sick. Do some research before posting please. The vaccine actually does reduce the amount of "active" flu cases and the spread of the virus. I've had a shot every year for the past 12 or so and haven't had the flu once even though I've been exposed to those that have the flu numerous times.

Agree

I have had a flu shot every year for the past 20 years, and never got the flu, nor did the shots ever make me sick. It's a proven fact that you can't get the flu from a flu vaccine.

Vaccine

They vaccine will make you sick! Do not believe the drug pushing doctors and pharmacists who wish to make money off of your misery!

The flu vaccine will not

The flu vaccine will not make you sick. I've given thousands of flu shots and the truth is what might make you sick is the waiting room and two weeks it takes for highest immunity. We are seeing flu in unvaccinated patients, with very few exceptions. Please don't spread these rumors based on radical theory. I have seen dozens of families who have one person who didn't get vaccinated...they come in positive for flu and the rest of the family is ok. Explain how that fits your theory.

It's sad..

that there are folks so uninformed they believe this bull. Adjust your tinfoil hat and crawl back in your doomsday bunker Henny Penny.....

**Thanks for the chuckle however**
