komen must has some major influence

the city gives them no parking fees and they do not have to pay the dollar per racer and in all of the fundraisers in town, course the local running groups are not up in arms since one of their major players is benefitting from the race. These folks have the lowest dollar going to LOCAL efforts. Thank God for the hospital and pretty in pink and others who have not sold out...shame that no one is reporting on that..oh wait..the other stations reporters are either getting paid by this group or leading off its efforts. it is so sad when local folks are doing such good for local people and don't get the same breaks by their own city. Guess corporate grabs will get more out of us and WE will all pay whether we are there or not.

Susan Komen Foundation only gives 15% of its profits to actual cancer research. Find other organizations to donate to.

Corporate charity

I was going to post the same thing. Only pharmaceutical companies get money from this so-called "charity". They make money on the drugs sold to cancer victims.

PLEASE do research and support REAL cancer research. Buying pink tampons and soda cans does nothing but make those corporations money.

Komen Wilmington Race

Hi Leigh,

As a former Race Chair for the Susan G. Komen NC Triangle affiliate back in 2001/ 2002 I want to wish you the best of luck for the race coming up March 2nd. We will be there as a team Triangle to the Coast "Breast"Friends- many of us having survived two and three times. We are so excited for this Inaugural Race and hope to meet you at some point during the event. We are so happy to support you in anyway we can and to raise funds to provide the services needed in your coastal area via our Grants program. I remember the first year jitters back in 1997 when we had our first event here in Raleigh and look how far we have come since then-both in NC and the world in getting the services to our communities. We are with you 100%. Godspeed.

Just a year ago Komen was in the toilet for cutting funding for breast exams from Planned Parenthood, after the backlash they reinstated it. Komen CEO makes almost $500,000 salary from the "charity".

While the CEO of Komen...

may make $500k per year, the husband/wife team the run Goodwill in NC...make $800k. If I'm going to to donate used's going to the Good Shepherd Center.

Why not keep it local?
The Chair of the Willie Stargell Foundation is also making a 6 figure salary...
