Surf City town manager to retire next week

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) -- Surf City Town Manager Michael Moore handed in his resignation letter today. Moore says he is retiring.

Surf City Councilwoman Nelva Albury says Moore is leaving for family reasons. She says the town will miss him, and that she hates that it had to come to this.

Moore's resignation is effective June 1. He has been town manager for 12 years.
