School district suspends teacher arrested on drug charge

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- The New Hanover County school district has suspended a teacher under investigation after her arrest for drug possession.

Alcohol Law Enforcement arrested Catherine Entrocaso Thursday after a traffic stop. ALE says she had an unmarked bottle of Adderall pills.

Yesterday a school district spokeswoman said Entrocaso was still at work at New Hanover High School, where she is an English teacher. Today the district says it suspended Entrocaso with pay yesterday evening pending the outcome of the investigation.

Jayne Dees or anyone else at WWAY or anywhere else, feel free to jump in any time.......Did this woman have a prescription for these pills? Seems like this is a very important fact no one knows. Even if she did not, they could have been someone elses that did have an Rx.

Great to see that Todd Finn is running a tight ship at NHHS.

Then you must say the same for the principals who oversaw the alleged rapists at Ashley and Hoggrad and the Hoggard TA who punched a kid in the face. If Finn has to babysit teachers after school, on their own time, please hold other principals to the same standard.

Todd Finn is a great principal to work for. I have worked with him when he was a teacher and also when he was at West Bladen High School. The energy and enthusiam that he brings to the job is hard to match, trust me I tried on a daily basis. It is unfortunate that a teacher of his has brought NHHS into the news for the wrong reason, but focus on the postives that are also reported.

This should not be news. This poor woman is being treated like a drug dealer, worse actually! Most who take medication regularly carry it in different containers than the larger ones they often come in for a three+ month supply. Adderal is so common one could find it on practically anyone at the school; student or teacher alike! Teachers push parents to get their children on theses drugs and they will more than likely need them for life, if they are truly ADHD. I do not understand why this town chews people up like this. The holier than thou attitude of "100% teacher" was laughable! I just bet you are a "Christian", too! I find the Christianity practiced here to be as authentic as the intelligence.

I am a teacher who has never been arrested or done drugs if offended that this teacher makes the profession look bad! Claiming that almost all teachers do drugs is the most demeaning and childlike comment I have ever seen. This woman makes all teachers look bad by her actions and ignorant people are defending her, I truly am shocked!

I have been teaching for many years and I find it offensive for you to say that teachers push parents to get their children on these drugs. I have never recommended it and never will. I was ADHD and my parents refused to allow me to be medicated. My father said that my medication was warn around his waist, better known as his leather belt. He taught me to be self disciplined by the use of his belt and today I have three college degrees, a fine home and family.
So before you support such, know what you are talking about. The teachers in my school do not recommend drugging children. We recommend parents taking some responsibility and teaching your child how to act and be self disciplined. Be a PARENT for a change. I am a teacher, not your babysitter.
