Surf City businesses, visitors ready to ride out Andrea

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) -- Tourist season is in full swing with people from all over the country flocking to rental houses and hotels.

Despite the change in the weather today, swimmers are still flocking to the beaches determined to make the most out of their vacations.

One man from Cleveland, OH, says despite the threat of Tropical Storm Andrea, his trip was still worth it.

"We're going to play some board games and maybe have a few drinks as parents," Kirk Dietrich said. "We're going to hang out, and if we can get outside a little bit, we will. If it really comes through, then we'll just hunker down."

Businesses we spoke with said they plan to stay open this weekend as long as the storm does not get stronger.

the storm may have more impact further inland toward I-95. At least that was Tim Buckley's assessment this AM.
