Teen killed, two others hurt after car crashes into Shallotte pond

SHALLOTTE, NC (WWAY) — Shallotte Police say a teenager is dead after a car crashed into a Shallotte pond early Wednesday.

Police say it happened around 4 a.m. on Bridgers Road about 100 yards from a theater there.

Officers say it appears the car was traveling toward Highway 130 when it ran off the road and hit a bridge, sending it into the pond and about seven feet of water. Investigators say a 13-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say a passenger and the driver, brothers Devin Harris, 19, and Justice Harris, 16 survived the crash and were taken to the hospital. One of them was in intensive care, police say.

They say officers, deputies and fire crews pulled the three people inside out of the water.
