Two men charged with attempted murder in November shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two men are facing attempted murder charges for a 2015 shooting that sent a man on a motorcycle to the hospital.

A Wilmington Police spokeswoman said both Jarrin Anthony Clarida, 23, and Draquon Antonio Nixon, 20, are charged with first-degree attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury and felony conspiracy.

Nixon is also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and three counts of probation violation.

Both men are charged in a shooting on November 12, 2015 in the 400 block of N. 10th Street. That’s where Joseph Cornell Corbett III was riding a motorcycle when someone in a car started shooting at him.

Police said both Clarida and Nixon are accused of being the shooters. A police spokeswoman said officers helped US Marshals arrest Clarida, who was wanted on outstanding warrants, early Thursday.

Clarida was booked under $1 million bond. Nixon was booked under a more than $1 million bond.
