Turn that OLD bike into a NEW smile for a local child


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Do you have an old bike that you don’t use? It can be dusty. It can be a little rusty. If you want to help put a smile on a child’s face, local a non-profit needs your help!

Noah Bass sure knows how to have fun. “I like racing my nephews and my friends,” he said. “Who’s the fastest?” Daniel Seamans asked. “Me!” Noah replied.

His bike is a prized possession.

“I can come to Brigade(Boys and Girls Club) when I really want to,” Noah said, “I live down Jefferson Street so I can just ride down here, go to the store faster.”

Noah got his bike for free last year. Now you can help more kids and teenagers get one like it, too.

“I chose this project,” Kelly Cascaden said of her non-profit, “because my husband and I believe it’s a rite of passage for every child to own a bike.”

A Bike for Every Child is a non-profit looking for used bikes of all kinds.
From used tricycles for the wee ones to adult bikes for the teens, dusty and a just a little rusty is perfectly fine.

“The kids at the Brigade Boys and Girls Club are going to be learning how to repair and refurbish the bikes,” Kelly said, “so they are going to learn a skill and a sense of ownership.”

bike4everychild2So if you have a bike you don’t use anymore, you can drop it off at any Lowes Foods in Wilmington, Leland, or Hampstead through March 15th.
You could change someone’s life.
“It’s good,” Noah said of the project, “so more kids can get out and have fun like they want to instead of sitting in the house all day.”
