Azalea Festival Children’s Tea celebrates with Wizard of Oz theme

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) –The Azalea Festival is right around the corner and Sunday a younger crowd celebrated with tea.

This year’s Azalea Festival Children’s Tea theme was The Wizard of Oz. Children had story time, snacks, and even some arts & crafts time. Co-chair Jessica Reed-Williams said it’s important to get young children involved in the Azalea Festival activities.

“We put this event on, first and foremost, because it is an Azalea Festival Tradition and we want the young kids to be involved so they can learn about this tradition while they’re young,” Reed-Williams said.

This is the 14th year, of the children’s tea event.

Proceeds from the event support the Cape Fear Volunteer Center and the Big Buddy program.
