Chief releases update on King’s fire

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Wrightsville Beach Fire Chief has released new information in a fire next to the Johnnie Mercer’s Pier.

Fire Chief Glen Rogers said the cause of the fire will remain undetermined due to the damage from the blaze last week. Rogers said, however, he doesn’t believe the fire was suspicious. Damage is estimated between $500,000 and $700,000.

The fire erupted around noon Friday. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
