UPDATE: Air, water crews conclude search for missing swimmer for the night
CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Officials say the air support has concluded for the night, as well as Search and Rescue on the water for a missing swimmer in Carolina Beach.
Crews resumed their search this morning for a swimmer who went missing at Carolina Beach Saturday evening.
The Carolina Beach Police Department says the swimmer, James Cameron, 21, is from Graham.
According to a news release from the Carolina Beach Police Department, police and the Carolina Beach Fire Department responded to the beach strand at Harper Ave. last night for a call about a swimmer in distress. The swimmer is still missing, police say. He is described as 5’10” tall and 160 lbs. He was last seen wearing red, white and blue swim trunks.
Police say crews are searching from land, air and water for Cameron.
County fire crews and the US Coast Guard responded to help with the search.
Officials say crews are continuing the search from land. Fire department officials say operations in the water and land will begin again tomorrow morning.
