Leland to build road connecting Brunswick Forest, Mallory Creek

LELAND, NC (WWAY)  – A new road scheduled to be built in 2017 will connect two large Leland neighborhoods.

According to Leland Town Manager David Hollis, the proposed two-lane road, nearly a mile-long, will connect Mallory Creek Drive in Mallory Creek Plantation to Rice Gate Way in Brunswick Forest. A roundabout will also be built into the road about three quarters of the way through it.

Construction will not cause road closures, since the new road will be constructed in a vacant space connecting two dead-end roads. The cost will not be finalized until the town selects a contractor, Hollis said. Bids will be due July 7 so they can present the project to town council on July 14, Hollis said.

Hollis hopes the road would be completed by February of 2017.
