FIRST ON 3: VP nominee Pence to visit Wilmington port, Leland factory Wednesday
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Two weeks after Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump rallied supporters in the Port City, his running mate is coming to town.
Vice presidential nominee Mike Pence, who currently serves as Indiana’s governor, will visit the State Port of Wilmington before touring Manufacturing Methods in Leland, where he will hold a public event, according to campaign sources. The time for the public event has not yet been announced
North Carolina has gotten a lot of attention from candidates with Trump, Pence, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and her running mate Tim Kaine having all made visits to the Tar Heel State in recent weeks.
Trump filled UNCW’s Trask Coliseum with about 6,000 people on Aug. 9. His campaign also started running TV ads in North Carolina, including Wilmington, in the last few days. The ads are the first from Trump. They are part of a $5 million ad buy in four battleground states, which also include Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, where Trump trails Clinton in polls.
