Brunswick County releases school make-up schedule

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – Brunswick County schools have announced when students will make-up the days missed during Hurricane Matthew.

In a news release, Brunswick County says the proposed make-up schedule avoids taking away from major holidays including Thanksgiving, Christmas and Spring Break.  Saturdays are not the most viable make-up alternative and can result in overtime charges to the district for employees such as teacher assistants, clerical, bus drivers, child nutrition, custodial, etc.  Plus, Saturdays often result in low attendance by students and staff.

October 28 and March 31 will no longer be early release days. They are now full school days for students.
