Free food giveaway for Hurricane Matthew victims

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – This afternoon, two churches are coming together to give away food for those still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew.

Pastor Jerome Belton with the Abundant Giving Food Distribution Program says during a recent giveaway in Bolton, they supplied more than 250 families with food.

Today, his church Saint Paul AME Zion will travel to Saint Mark AME Zion Church in Whiteville to help them give away free food while supplies last.

The food includes beans, rice, fresh fruits and vegetables, canned goods, assorted groceries, toiletries and water. It’s being supplied by the Wilmington branch of the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.

The food give away begins at 1:00 p.m. The church is located at 119 West Virgil Street in Whiteville. The food will be given away while supplies last.
