Search underway for man with knife hiding in Marsh Oaks home

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man with a knife in the Marsh Oaks neighborhood.

New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Lt. Jerry Brewer says a woman walking her dog returned to her Hilliard Court home and heard something in her bedroom. When she went inside, a man came out of her closet wearing a mask and holding a knife.

The man and the woman both ran out of the house in different directions.

This happened just before 3:15 this afternoon.

Deputies searched the area and used K9s, but so far, the suspect has not been found.

No one was hurt.
