Police identify man found dead on Hooper Street

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police have identified the man found shot on Hooper Street yesterday morning.

Police say Steven Robert Barton, 47, was found lying near the road by a recycling worker around 8:00 a.m.

When officers arrived they found Barton dead from a gunshot wound.

Police are investigating this homicide.

They don’t have any other details at this time.
