Family and friends mourn murder victim's death

It's been nearly two weeks since 59-year-old Carol Ann Johnson was found dead in her home on Pine Valley Drive. Wilmington Police have been tight-lipped about the investigation, but family and friends received some closure Saturday at a funeral to honor Johnson’s life.

Meth lab found in Wilmington apartment

video Three men have been charged with manufacturing crystal meth in their apartment. Wilmington Police spokeswoman Lucy Crockett called meth "the poor man's cocaine" and said the drug is becoming more popular because of the combination of tough economic times and a relatively cheap drug recipe.

Tar Heel will have blank ballot come November

video The deadline to run for municipal elections has ended and one community will have a blank ballot come November. The small town of Tar Heel in Bladen County has no one running for mayor or any of the three council positions and the deadline for municipal filings has not been extended.

Driving force behind historical marker to be honored in nation's capital

Last month a historical marker was unveiled outside Wilmington National Cemetery to honor the hundreds of US Colored Troops buried in the Port City. Next week the man behind that marker will be honored for his efforts.

Wilmington Police seize dozens of guns

video Wilmington Police say they have taken a large number of guns off the streets in the first two weeks of this month. Officers confiscated many of the guns from convicted felons.

Brunswick Co. Animal Shelter ends Saturday hours

If you want to adopt a pet from the Brunswick County Animal Shelter, you'll have to do it on a weekday. Starting next weekend the shelter will no longer be open on Saturdays.

Administrative mistakes delay court dates for Strickland, Wright
