The Raleigh attorney who accused a North Carolina Highway Patrol officer of intimidating him and his wife has his own legal troubles. WWAY has learned Hoyt Tessener is due in Wake County Court Thursday on a simple assault charge.

A Wilmington bakery was targeted in a statewide phone scam. Hot Pink Cake Stand on Front Street reported receiving several phone calls Wednesday from a TTY operator. TTY is a service used to aid hearing impaired people when using the phone.

A dense smoke advisory is in effect for our area until 11 a.m. The smoke from the Juniper Road Fire burning in the Holly Shelter Game Land has combined with fog to reduce visibility significantly.
