A former Ashley High School teaching assistant was found not guilty Wednesday of indecent liberties with a student, according to the New Hanover County District Attorney’s Office.
Dishon White, 26, was accused of sending sexually charged text messages and Facebook postings between Nov. 29, 2011, and Feb. 2, 2012, to a 17-year-old girl.

The Coast Guard is investigating the sinking of a tall ship off the coast of North Carolina during Hurricane Sandy.

The Wilmington Fire Department responded to a house fire Thursday night. The fire was off Independence Blvd near River Road and was set back about 200 yards in the woods in an abandoned house.
