Timmons-Goodson to leave NC Supreme Court

The only black woman to ever serve on the North Carolina Supreme Court says she's leaving next month. Associate Justice Patricia Timmons-Goodson announced Wednesday her decision to retire from the state's highest court Dec. 17.

New River Inlet Channel realignment project begins

video The New River Inlet Channel Realignment Project has begun on the north end of North Topsail Beach. The project will widen and deepen the New River Inlet Channel, and the sand from the channel will be placed on the northern 1.7 miles of the beach.

Police look for suspect in Creekwood shooting

video Wilmington Police are looking for a gunman after a man was shot this morning in the Creekwood community. A WPD spokeswoman says EMS was dispatched at about 10:20 a.m. to the 500 block of N. 30th Street.

White House: Obama to meet Romney Thursday

The White House says President Barack Obama will meet privately Thursday with his vanquished rival Mitt Romney, their first face-to-face encounter since the election. Obama promised in his victory speech on Nov. 6 to engage with Romney and consider his ideas.
