A 17-year-old Bladen County boy is in jail charged with raping a 12-year-old girl. Deputies arrested Dennis Michael King Jr. of Clarkton yesterday and charged him with first-degree rape.

A body found in the Cape Fear River today is a missing Marine. LCpl. John J. Pruitt, 24, of Fontana, CA, was stationed at Camp Lejeune. He went missing late Sunday night.

A state plane with Gov. Bev Perdue on board made an emergency landing Friday afternoon at Raleigh Durham International Airport, according to WTVD-TV in Raleigh. No one was hurt in the incident.
