A state grant will help expand a New Hanover County park.
The county got a $287,817 matching grant from the NC Parks and Recreation Trust Fund to buy 33 acres on the south end of Castle Hayne Park.

Animal Control Services says the victim was working in the yard and did not see the rabid fox Sunday when it ran out and bit her wrist. She was able to shake the animal off. A neighbor then killed the fox.
