Deer crashes into Market Street business

video A Wilmington business got quite a surprise today when a deer crashed through its front window. Around noon today, employees and customers at the Plant Place on Market Sstreet heard a loud bang followed by the sound of breaking glass and merchandise. The buck stopped halfway in the window but then fled on hoof.

New charter school to open in Carolina Beach

video A new charter school is ready to open this fall in Carolina Beach. Today Island Montessori Charter started accepting applications from families in New Hanover and the surrounding counties a day after the state approved its request to be a charter school.

FIRST ON 3: CFCC getting new ship for Marine Technology program

video The ship has finally come in for Cape Fear Community College. After a nearly decade-long search for a new training vessel for the college's marine technology program, CFCC will acquire the nationally-known research vessel the R/V Cape Hatteras.

NC among states penalized for being too lax on drunken driving

Less than a year after President Barack Obama approved a piece of sweeping highway legislation, the U.S. Department of Transportation has penalized 33 states, North Carolina among them, for failing to comply with mandates aimed at curbing drunken driving.
