Had a wonderfully delicious Veal dish last evening. The young man who waited on us was most helpful and well informed about the dishes. Can't wait to dine again!
i eat at princess pizza 3 times a day breakfast, lunch, dinner
i prOBALLY EAT 9 slices of pizza a day. the guys that make the pizza
sam and thomas are the nicest pizza makers in wilmington
I love their Cheese steaks! They are made on Amoroso rolls and unlike some places the more you add to the sandwich the bigger it gets. They don't just fill up the bun. If you don't want the bread they have cheese steak salads...lettuce, tomatoes, steak, onions and gooey cheese...YUM!
If you're looking for quick service and filling food its the place to go!
I have been in the restaurant industry in Wilmington for a number of years. All I had heard about the Oceanic was great view, ok food, horrible service. Well my mom came out for a visit and wanted to eat there. So I girded up the loins and decided to try it. We wound up going 2 out of 3 days. The first day our waitress was very helpful and made and effort to at least walk by our table every few minutes (we were near the end of the pier). On our next visit I recognized our waiter as a bartender from a chain restaurant that I had been to in the area. He was extremely helpful. He was honest when he didn't know the answer to one of our questions - and he went and found out! As far as the food goes, the fresh catch (your choice of a few different fish prepared one of 3 or 4 ways) was very good. My mom got her fish broiled and loved it so much she got the same thing the next night. Yes there is a lot of fried food on the menu, but to be honest that is what most people order around here (I speak from years of experience). I am hoping that the Oceanic has been making an effort in the training of their staff, because if all the waiters were like the 2 we had I would be very happy.
My husband and I were there last year in 2008, and we did not tip our waitress very well because she did not deserve it..when we walked past her she was chatting about how cheap were were to her co worker, and we over heard the conversation....so we called into the restaurant and reported it, they responded quickly and apologised.
We will be giving the location another chance, and hopefully they have counseled their waiting staff on good manners....
I think the reason the waitress did not give us any attention is because she had a four top come in of very nicely dressed, classey ladies..as I recall, and my husband and I were dressed down for the week of relaxation, and we looked kind of rough...so she choose to get a bigger tip out of the four top of society types and dis us...
Lesson to be learned here, is never judge a book by its cover...some of the worst dressed people are very wealthy...only the ones that do not spend their money have it...wink wink...silly young girl....
This place has great food. It is cooked just right and the breakfast is not too greasy like you find at most breakfast restaurants. I wish they were open in the evening!
My absolute favorite in town! There is no way to go wrong in this restaurant, everything is amazing! My all-time faves are the spanikopita, greek salad, fried flounder sandwich, shrimp or spinach pizza, or flounder athenian.
The crabcakes were good...the rest of the meal was an exercise in mediocrity. The fried okra was very lightly battered but not cooked entirely. The mac and cheese lacked flavor and the pork tenderloin was extremely tough. An upshot is the fantastic wait staff and wine selection. I was extremely disappointed since I kept hearing such wonderful things, unfortunately this doesn't even begin to measure up to my grandmother's true southern cooking!
Food is good, variety is great. Atmosphere is warm and pleasing.
Quality is reliable. This is the place I go when I have friends/family in from out of town and do not want to disapoint them.
I agree with the last reviewer. My family and I went in to see what all the hype was about and all we got was some American Mexican food that wasn't cooked very well. If I want Mexican, I'll go to San Felipe or another authentic Mex restaurant (that serves excellent food!). Our food was tasteless and I was shocked that this was what everyone had said was a great place to go eat. Now, the one positive thing was their excellent homemade salsa, but that's about it.
I agree, what a disappointment. We have been going to this place for years. We went last night and for 10.00 my salad was so small I could have put the entire contents in the palm of my hand. We had a male waiter from New York, who practically threw our plates on the table. We had 5 in our party and we were seated at a table for 4 the the host was also rude. I have not had such bad serive at any other place in Wilmington. We had to flag someone down every time we needed something. Apparently the waiter thought that he did a better job than we did as he smugged us off with a smile of discuss when we handed him his tip! In my opinion he should not have gotten anything!
never had a burrito w/ no flavor at all. It tatse like cooked chopmeat with none of the fat drained out and not one bit of spice added to it.dont understand all the hype.
A local tradition...be prepared to wait in line for breakfast/brunch on the weekends in the summer. Very down home cooking, amazing waffles and pancakes! Usually worth the wait...but I recommend heading in on an "off" day to avoid the ravenous crowd waiting for tables outside!
My husband and I were both extremely pleased by this resturant. I read about Mark's in the Wilmington magazine and am so glad that we decided to give it a try. I normally don't eat seafood but the salmon that I decided on was fantastic. We had everything from a starter to desert and was satisfied and pleased by everything. The only gripe that I can muster up is that there isn't a huge menu but when considering that they specialize in fresh and local fare, is understandable.
Great Food and Great Service

Great brekfast and lunch fare. I love the corned beef hash, shrimp bisque, HUGE pancakes, and the best kalua cheescake!
So no more dinners for now...

9am - 9pm. And breakfast still served all day!

Love it!!! It's the best deal in town for a family dinner. Try the fried chicken burrito buffalo style if you want something tasty.
This says it all.
