Sheriff: Deputy fatally shot in double shooting near Boone

A Watauga County deputy was shot and killed early Thursday morning, the sheriff’s office said. The shooting happened at a house on Hardin Road, just off Highway 421, about six miles from Boone in the Deep Gap community around 1 a.m. Full story...
