This season the UNCW men's basketball team has two players on the team that call Wilmington home. Former Hoggard Viking Zack Allen and former New Hanover Wildcat Freddie Jackson both reside in the Port City. Allen is a walk-on. He's in his first season at UNCW. The UNC Wilmington-UNC Asheville game was tied at the half, but Buzz Peterson's squad prevailed in the end with an 8 point victory..... Pat Summitt is stepping aside as Tennessee's women's basketball coach and taking the title of "head coach emeritus". UNCW men's basketball coach Buzz Peterson used to coach with Summitt at Tennessee. "One of the best basketball minds to ever coach the game, Peterson texted WWAY about Summitt. "She was such a tremendous communicator with her players.
