videoOn Thursday night we checked out baseball playoff action. The Wilmington Sharks had a chance to wrap up their first round series, but the Peninsula Pilots had different plans. Wilmington Post 10 was victorious though. Post 10 advances to the winner's bracket of the legion baseball regionals. Lori Beth Adams made a valiant effort, but the UNCW senior came up short at the U.S. Women's Amateur in Charleston. Plus more!

WWAY's Monday night sports - July 15; Devoted Wilmington Sharks employee dies at ballpark

videoMonday's baseball game at Buck Hardee Field was called off due to the death of Wilmington Sharks employee Kevin Cerasuolo. The death is under investigation, but it appears to be from natural causes. UNCW men's basketball coach Buzz Peterson is counting on recent transfer Addison Spruill to play a big part on the court for the Seahawks this season. Spruill recently fractured his right foot though. He'll be out at least 4-6 weeks. Plus more!

Can Zack Allen develop into UNCW scoring threat?

videoThis season the UNCW men's basketball team has two players on the team that call Wilmington home. Former Hoggard Viking Zack Allen and former New Hanover Wildcat Freddie Jackson both reside in the Port City. Allen is a walk-on. He's in his first season at UNCW. Allen has only played in one game this season, but that may change soon if he keeps knocking down shots in practice from behind the arc.
