Prosecutions rests in Tru Colors Trial

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Prosecutors rested their case Friday in the double-murder trial of Omonte Bell and Dyrell Green, marking a major milestone in a case tied to the 2021 killings of Koredreese Tyson and Briyanna Williams.
Bell and Green are charged in the July 2021 murders at the home of George Taylor III, the former chief operating officer of Tru Colors Brewing.
After the state rested, attorneys for both defendants argued outside the presence of the jury that the prosecution’s digital evidence was too broad and failed to directly connect Bell or Green to the crime scene.
Defense attorneys for both men filed motions to dismiss all charges, contending the state had not presented sufficient evidence to proceed. The judge denied those motions.
Neither defense team presented evidence on behalf of the defendants, and neither Bell nor Green testified in their own defense.
Jurors are expected to return Monday morning, when attorneys will deliver closing arguments before the case is eventually handed to the jury for deliberations.
